Last reflection

We read a short story called Eveline. After reading it, we discussed about it on Monday. We were free on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. After the short break, we had a class with Rebecca teacher on Friday. She gave us some information about the final exam. We did several exercises and practises for final exam. Then we were free. Next week, we wiil have final exams. I hope we will succeed in them. Good luck to everybody!!!

This week

We started to this week by having a quiz which is aboutThe Lottery on Monday. After the quiz, we studied on argumentative essay by creating groups. Our group being Selin, Gülin and me wrote about internet shopping. We enjoyed a lot while discussing and writing it. Some friends presented their grammar topics which are Contrast, Introductory there and it, Emphatic structures and Inversion on Tuesday.The following day, I didn't go to university in order to finish my homework. We discussed at a short story called Diary of Adam by Mark Twain which teaches creation of world. After the discussion about this story, we joined the conference about workshop, one of which presenters was Rebecca Anderson. We were free on Friday, so we didn't go to school.

This Week

We learnt a new essay called argumentative essay on Monday. Gülsen teacher handed out 'The Lotttery' and ' The Open Window' stories for which we were responsible for our quizs. The following day some of my classmates presented their grammar topics and some of us presented our advertisements to Fulden teacher on grammar course. In addition, the other friends presented their advertisements on Wednesday. In my opinion, all of the advertisements were perfect. By the way, I congragulate my friends on their effort for their advertisements with my most sincere feelings. Moreover, on Wednesday we talked about what we felt while acting our own advertisements and which difficulties we were face to face. On Thursday we were late with Firdevs. When we entered the class, Gülsen teacher were talking about The Open Window and were asking to our classmates some questions related to The Open Window. We sat down and joined discussion about that story. After a while, we had the quizs of that story. After quiz, we studied on ' The Lottery' written by Shirley Jackson. To tell the truth, I didn't like the story at first reading because I had had some missing parts in my mind. However, after the discussion on Thursday, I enjoyed reading it which gave us some information about traditions and how much people living in that time depended on their rituals. We understood that following the crowd can cause disasters. Furthermore, Traditions can make people fault. After discussion of the story, we passed writing class. We checked out our argumentative essays with each other and scored them. On Friday We watched a movie called The Groundhog Day which was so boring. Then we had a quiz about this movie.

This week

Firdevs, Alev and I as a group released for advertisement at ten o'clock on Monday. Then we had reading class and studied on a text related to adolescence called 'Cognitive And Social Development in Adolescence'. We talked about identify formation, adolescent egocentrism and the influence of family. After that, we past Teenage Suicide which is very important subject for us as a teenager. In addition, there are many teenagers around us, for example, our sisters, brothers and friends, so we can come across someone's attempted suicide in any time. Next, we learned classification essay needing a lot of information about the subject which will be written. Finally, we had homework about this essay on that day. On Tuesday, we advertised to the original product created by Firdevs, Alev and me. I comminicated with my friends who are in my highschool and studying at Pamukkale University now. They helped us for this advertisement a lot. Working with them was very fun for us:)) On Wednesday, We didn't have a lesson because of the most of our friends' absent and went to SOTE.On Thursday, we had the second reading midterm and then we were free. On Friday, we didn't have a lesson due to Rebecca teacher's meeting, so we didn't go to school.

This week :))

We would have second listening midterm at 11.00 am on Monday, but it was postponed because of technical faults in the computer in our class. Therefore, we couldn't have the exam and began to wait for the writing lesson at 12.30 pm. That day we studied causes and effects essay. Gülsen teacher seperated the class into a lot of groups by choosing us on the attendant list. My groupmates were Tuba and Osman. We wrote an essay about the effects of Düzce earthquake on 17th August in 1999. It was very fun and benefit for our group to write the essay because of having different partners in group. We had the second grammar midterm on Tuesday and then we were free. We also had the second listening midterm on Wednesday. After I had finished my exam, I had an arrangament with my friends in the high school last year. They were my guests on that day. On the following day, my other friends who also were in my class last year came in Denizli. We visited together the previous high school and met our teachers there. On Friday, it was holiday:))

My reflection about this week

We started this week with writing class. Gülsen teacher asked us to form groups and write a cause essay by choosing a topic in writing book. Thus, I and Alev formed a group and wrote an essay about reasons why friends have some problems between them. Although we knew this kind of essay well, we had difficult in writing it because of our topic. Therefore, we understood that the topic chosen for an essay is very important to write a nice and fluent essay which is necessary to affect readers. After writing that essay, we passed the reading class. First, we talked about the company brand logos and mottos on the paper given us by Gülsen teacher. Next, we kept on an article called 'English: Can Anyone Stop It? Should They Try?' giving us some information about disappearing languages. On follow day, we, Meryem, Firdevs and I presented endangered species in grammar class. Then we went on confusing verbs and adjectives and also did some exercises about those grammar subjects. We studied on gradable and ungradable adjectives on Wednesday. In addition, we checked out grammar quiz about prepositions. We discussed at disappearing languages, which we searchad for, on Thursday. After that, we read anfluenza text and answered the questions related to this text. We read someone stories by paying attention to pronounciation and speak clearly on Friday.

This week

I am with my family at home now. I am going to Denizli because of my class tomorrow. I couldn't understand anything from my holiday which started on last Thursday and will finish tomorrow. We needed this holiday due to our crash course, so its timing was ideal for us. I rested up during my short holiday and gathered my energies. I did same things in the whole week.For example; I got up between at 1o:30 and 11:00 am. Then I snacked instead of having breakfast and had my lunch with my family after my sisters and father had finished their courses in the school and come home. I helped my youngest sister's homework and then watched television. I also read some novels which were in Turkish. I wrote my brother's term homework and taught my younger sister in English at the weekends. By the way I remembered to open my msn and facebook during my holiday and met some friends thanks to internet. I miss my classmates and teachers. See you tomorrow :)
